Latin America Driving Grand Tour

We have a 40 Foot “Alfa” Diesel Pusher Motor home that we used every summer to go on vacations, We live in Las Vegas Nevada, and in the summer, temperatures get to be very hot, so, as soon as it gets to about 100 degrees (about the middle of May) we hit the road to some were, usually to the north of our city. We have gone to Alaska, to Baja California and to most of the States of the U.S.A.
Because we think the Alfa is to big for the Central and South American countries roads, we purchased a 3O foot Coachman Mirada from a 79 year old Lady that she used to take the coach around the country and she kept it, in absolutely beautiful condition. We think that because it is shorter than the Alfa and has no slides it will be more suitable for the trip.
First thing we did was to have it checked by a mechanic friend of ours and he recommended to change all the hoses, belts and lubricants and give the engine a tune up and change spark plugs wires, so we did. The coach had brand new tires and brakes only 1000 miles old. We added a new 2000 watts inverter, some book shelves inside, and we made some more room inside and out to storage stuff, we had the dinette seats reupholstered and made some shelves in the lockers, we had all the appliances checked, the air conditioning and the generator too. We added an “Excalibar” towing bar on the rear to pull the Jeep with and the towing lights harness.
The tow is a 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited, and I set it up for heavy duty off roading, installed a 3 inches lift kit, new shocks, and springs, new very aggressive tires, off road PIIA lights, fog lights, intake manifold, custom super charger and a “K/N” filter, and a new “Magnaflow” exhaust system, and on the bottom, we have installed all skid plates for the engine and transmission and covered the gas tank, all around with 1/8 inch steel plate. We think that the Jeep and the motor home are ready!
First thing we have to do now, will be to take a shake down trip. That we’ll do soon.
