From Guanajuato to Hidalgo over the mountains we followed "The Independence Road", Ruta 2010 Ttraveling in the footsteps of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. Dolores Hidalgo is named for the revolutionary leader Miguel Hidalgo. The Mexican Revolution lasted longer in this area than in any other. Today, Hidalgo relies on extensive silver, gold and mineral deposits to fuel its economy.
